Davido shared during his conversation with Whatyuhknow what it feels like to be called the king of Afrobeat. He said it’s a huge responsibility for him to ensure he continues performing at the highest level of music.

The DMW boss said his journey to becoming king of Afrobeat began when he decided to return to his roots, having been born in the US.

“Even when I was in school (in the US) I’ll always play African songs to my friends and I’ll tell them Afrobeat was gonna be the next big thing.”

He also said he had every chance to join the moving train of Hip-Hop or RnB but he chose to follow his African roots and he said he made the best decision he made in his career.

When asked what made him happy he simply said;

“My family…my wife and my kids.”

The father of five also shared some of the little perks of life that make him happy the most. He noted that working in the studio or whenever he was on stage performing were some of his “happy places.”
