Outspoken Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, doesn’t seem to be letting go of his interest in the Osun State Local Government Elections anytime soon.
Days after calling out the Osun State Commissioner of Police and tagging him as a disgrace, he has fired more digs at the security outfit in his home state.
OSG recalls reporting when Davido took to his social media handles, lambasting the Osun State Commissioner of Police and the security architecture in his home state.
Davido’s social media outbursts were stirred after several attacks and political crises started across the state in preparation for the Saturday, February 22, 2025, Local Government Elections.
The DMW boss whose uncle is the current governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has constantly shown that he was willing to lay his life on the line for his dad’s younger brother’s political ambition.
Davido’s recent comments in response to an advisory put out by the Osun State Police Command have sparked mixed reactions online. The Federal Police Command has advised against the LGA elections held in Osun on Saturday, February 22.
The advisory stated that there are high tendencies for electoral violence and breakdown of law and order on election day. The statement came after the Attorney-General of the federation had also advised against the election holding.
Here’s an excerpt of the statement released by the Federal Police Command:
“The Nigeria Police Force has received credible intelligence indicating a high likelihood of violence and significant security threats should the planned Local Government elections proceed in Osun State. These reports gathered from joint intelligence gathering reveal that various groups, including political elements and other interest parties, are mobilizing to instigate unrest, disrupt public peace, and undermine the democratic order. Given this imminent threat to security, the NPF strongly advises the Osun State Government to suspend the planned elections forthwith in the interest of public safety and national stability.“
Davido reacts to the statement released by NPF
In a tweet, Davido responded to the statement and advisory put out by the NPF and attorney-general of the Federation. The singer noted that if the Nigeria Police Force chose to not do their duty of protecting lives and properties, then his uncle was ready to replace them with Amotekun.
Afterwards, he shared a picture of the vigilante security outfit while undergoing training.
Davido’s response to the advisory is coming barely 24 hours after the singer had slammed a fan who asked him to be less involved in politics as concerned Nigeria and Osun state.
OBO responded that his family will always come first, and he sees nothing wrong in doing what is right. He also told the fan to go look for another artist to start supporting if his political comments and involvement were becoming uncomfortable for him.
