On Wednesday night at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood, ELLE Magazine honored over 50 women in TV, including those appearing on its February 2016 cover.

This shows that it’s a great time to be a woman on TV. While Hollywood continues to take on criticism for its lack of diversity in roles and executive positions, TV—in its rapidly expanding streaming platforms—has provided roles for women that look like real life: they come from diverse backgrounds and their lives are complicated, messy, and fun.
