Following this year’s exam results, Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), a well-known social media activist, has harshly lambasted the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
According to accounts, some pupils tried suicide as a result of the candidates’ generally low performance. In response, JAMB blamed a systemic mistake for the poor outcomes.
VDM expressed dissatisfaction with JAMB’s propensity to make excuses rather than accept accountability and denounced this ongoing pattern of systemic failures.
He asked when Nigerians will begin to hold their leaders responsible for such egregious disregard.

VDM brought up a tragic story about a young girl who supposedly committed suicide after learning her exam results.
He lamented the unnecessary tragedy and attributed it to the profound sadness brought on by her failure. He bemoaned that the nation had failed her and begged for the tranquilly of her soul.
The activist added that Nigerian students were extremely anxious about JAMB’s release and the results.
He addressed the public discourse by rejecting the idea that the widespread failure was caused by students’ use of social media and instead blaming systemic problems in the educational system.
VDM criticised a critic who blamed the students for the subpar results, pointing to the JAMB registrar’s religious studies training as the cause of this misplaced blaming and implying a lack of awareness of the difficulties of the test.

He advised parents to speak up in similar circumstances and urged pupils to investigate legal options against exam officials.
VDM also offered feedback on the exam timetable, stating that the timeframe was unsuitable for pupils who had to travel.
