Media personality and recent Producing graduate, Toyosi Phillips has set up the Taiwo Olawale Phillips Memorial Sickle Cell Endowment Fund in memory of her father who passed away 18 years ago from complications related to sickle cell anemia.
The T.O.P. Memorial Sickle Cell Endowment Fund was set up to provide medical care for people living with the sickle cell disease and also to promote sickle cell education and encourage everyone- illiterate and literate alike- to get tested, know their genotype and bring an end to this highly preventable disease.
In commemoration of this year’s World Sickle Cell Day on June 19, 2016, The Fund has collaborated with Missdee 4 Sickle Cell Foundation in their 2016 Essay Writing Competition themed “Sickle Cell Shall Not Be A Drawback To My Destiny” (Details on how to enter on flier (attached)).
The best entry will win the T.O.P. Memorial prize of =N= 100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) along with other gifts.
Consolation prizes include select hospital and pharmacy vouchers.
