Toyosi Etim-Effiong Calls Out INSTABLOG Over ‘Twisted’ Clickbait Headline

Media personality and entrepreneur Toyosi Etim-Effiong, wife of Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, has publicly called out popular blog INSTABLOG9JA for what she described as a false and damaging narrative taken from her recent podcast appearance.

Toyosi appeared three days ago on Toke Makinwa’s YouTube podcast, Toke Moments, where she spoke candidly about a woman’s journey through growth and grace. The conversation touched on marriage, personal development, boundaries and emotional maturity. However, according to Toyosi, a section of the interview was misrepresented by INSTABLOG in a way that completely altered her message.

The blog reportedly published a headline that read:
“Cheating is not a deal breaker for me; I even created a prayer group, ‘wives of entertainers’, to pray for our husbands — Toyosi, Daniel Etim Effiong’s wife reveals.”

Shortly after the post gained traction online, Toyosi took to her Instagram and Facebook pages to call out the blog. She shared a screenshot of the headline and accused INSTABLOG of deliberately twisting her words for engagement and clicks.

In a strongly worded post, Toyosi questioned the ethics behind such reporting, tagging the blog directly and expressing deep displeasure over what she described as irresponsible journalism. She condemned the use of misleading headlines and stated that the narrative pushed by the blog did not reflect what she said during the podcast conversation.

Her response sparked reactions across social media, with many users supporting her stance and criticising the growing culture of clickbait headlines in Nigeria’s online media space. Several commenters urged blogs to prioritise accuracy and context, especially when dealing with sensitive topics like marriage and personal values. While others also confirmed that they watched the interview and could attest that Toyosi never used those words.

Toyosi did not stop at calling out the blog. She also encouraged her followers and members of the public who were curious about the controversy to watch the full interview on YouTube. According to her, anyone who watches the episode on Toke Moments would clearly see that the viral headline was misleading and taken out of context.

The incident has once again reopened conversations around media ethics, digital responsibility and how narratives are shaped in the age of social media. As public figures continue to use their platforms to challenge misinformation, many Nigerians are asking when popular blogs will begin to prioritise truth over traffic.

For now, Toyosi Etim-Effiong remains firm in her position, insisting that her words were distorted and that the only way to understand her message is by listening directly to her voice, not sensationalised headlines.
