Tecno Own The Stage karaoke competition was brought to you by Tecno, the leading mobile phone brand in association with Africa.
Tecno Own The Stage sees talented karaoke singers from across the continent battling it out for a prize pool of $50,000 and an opportunity to record a song and go on tour with a renowned musical act.
Over the last 3 months, 15 contestants from Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania contested through a number of themed challenges, with one person ultimately emerging as Africa’s first karaoke champion.
The auditions saw different talents setting the stage on fire. Different acts competed against each other in order to gain the judges support and be selected among the final 15. The grand finale event took place at Ultima Studios, Lekki on February 7th, 2016.

The only Nigerian contestant who made it to the finalist won the first edition of Tecno Own The Stage.
The winner – SHAAPERA won the grand prize of $25,000, a Phantom 5 smartphone and the chance to record a song with one of the judges. The winner will also get the chance to record a music video and tour with a popular music act!

The winner’s party took place at Club Quilox from 9:00pm till dawn! Friends and well wishers had fun with top celebrities, the finalists, food and drinks plus a Karaoke photo booth! And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
