Nigerian media personality and entrepreneur Anita Natacha Akide, widely known as Tacha, has officially been recognised by Guinness World Records for two remarkable achievements in the beauty industry. The global record-keeping body confirmed that on 11 October 2025, Tacha completed 82 cosmetic makeovers in 8 hours, and went on to complete 144 cosmetic makeovers in 24 hours at a special event held in Lagos.

The attempt took place during what was billed as the “Tacha Beauty Festival” and she staged the makeover marathon in a public venue in Lagos so the audience could watch the transformations live. She meticulously transformed model after model, with each session involving full cosmetic makeovers including foundation, eyeshadow, mascara, lip liner, gloss and finishing touches.

The prior record holder in the 24-hour makeover category was Mary Yongai of Sierra Leone and Tacha’s new mark surpasses that by more than 30 makeovers according to Guinness.
Behind the scenes

Despite the glamour of the record-setting event, Tacha and her team faced significant challenges. According to local media, a nine-hour storm disrupted the venue’s setup, heavy rain and strong winds scattered equipment and branding, and the power went off multiple times during the 24-hour marathon. When lights failed, Tacha’s team used phone flashlights so she could continue the makeovers.
In her reaction, she expressed deep gratitude to her team, models and fans for their support. She said the attempt was more than just a record: it was a statement of endurance and creativity under pressure.
This achievement puts Tacha into a category of record-holders who have reached global recognition through innovative and bold efforts. For many observers, it also shines a spotlight on Nigeria’s beauty sector and the potential for local talent to make an international impact.
