Solomon Buchi Criticizes Peller and Egungun Over Actions During IShowSpeed Lagos Tour

Solomon Buchi has reacted strongly to a viral clip involving Egungun of Lagos and popular American streamer IShowSpeed during Speed’s recent visit to Nigeria, questioning Egungun’s ability to hold an intellectually engaging conversation.

In the clip that drew Buchi’s attention, Egungun introduced himself to IShowSpeed as the most popular lifestyle interviewer in Africa. He then congratulated Speed on reaching “50,000” subscribers, a statement Speed quickly corrected to “50 million.” Egungun went on to comment on Speed’s physical strength at 21, before the conversation devolved into playful barking sounds rather than meaningful questions such as how Speed began content creation or his journey into streaming.

Buchi expressed irritation over what he described as Egungun’s inability to conduct a proper interview. According to him, Egungun’s interview style often centered on women, cosmetic enhancements, and his popular catchphrase “that’s massive,” may have earned him fame but does not translate to intellectual depth or conversational skill.

Buchi further stated that he has been deeply embarrassed by several clips emerging from Speed’s time in Nigeria. He criticised what he described as “culturally normalised begging” in Lagos, as well as Nigerian celebrities making desperate attempts to associate with Speed for clout.

According to Buchi, Speed does not know most of these celebrities and appears more interested in interacting with everyday people rather than “fake personas, clout chasers, or classist Nigerian celebrities.” He added that while it is common to criticise Nigeria’s political leadership, it is equally troubling to witness what he described as the shameless behaviour of some Nigerians in public spaces.

Another clip that reportedly annoyed Buchi featured streamer Peller chasing Speed on horseback while shouting, “I am a streamer! I’m big. I know, but please let’s do something! I have suffered because of you!”

Reacting to the video, Buchi stressed that education is not a scam and criticised Peller’s approach to gaining Speed’s attention. He argued that as a well-known streamer in Africa, Peller should have reached out to Speed professionally before his arrival in Nigeria, or at the very least, had his team initiate contact.

Buchi also described it as shameful to see grown men—whom he referred to as people’s husbands, fathers, and boyfriends—crowding around Speed in what he perceived as undignified behaviour.

Ultimately, Buchi said his biggest concern lies in the global perception being shaped by these livestreams.

“What is the world seeing about Nigerian people from Speed’s livestream?” Buchi asked, expressing deep concern about the image being projected internationally.
