Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has revealed that a mix of health challenges and pregnancy were the main reasons behind the delayed release of her highly anticipated song โWhere You Deyโ featuring fellow artiste Chike. The candid explanation was shared by the artist on her social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and has since been widely reported by entertainment news outlets.
Simi explained that although she originally planned to release the song last year, her physical condition made it impossible to meet that timeline. After teasing the track with a snippet that excited fans, she found herself struggling with intense fatigue, weakness, nausea, and exhaustion, which made both finishing the song and promoting it especially difficult. In her own words, she wanted to release it โreally, really, reallyโ last year, but her body simply wouldnโt cooperate.
Even during the filming of the snippet video, Simi revealed that she was not well but did her best to push through. This candid disclosure gives fans insight into just how demanding the period was for her both physically and emotionally.
One of the highlights from her statement was her praise for Chikeโs professionalism. According to Simi, Chike didnโt hesitate when she asked him to be part of the song, and as soon as he returned to town from a trip, he came straight to her studio to record his verse. At that point, he wasnโt even aware of the challenges she was facing.
Simi also shared that the postโproduction process was personally demanding. Despite not liking the mastering process, she chose to master the track herself after struggling with the mix. This level of involvement shows her commitment to the project even during a challenging time.
Reflecting on the delay, Simi admitted she was disappointed she couldnโt meet the original release schedule, especially because fans had already connected with the snippet and were eager for the full song. She expressed a hope that listeners would appreciate the track for the love and resilience that went into creating it.
Lastly, Simi addressed longโstanding public speculation suggesting she slowed down her music career due to marriage. She framed the release of โWhere You Deyโ as proof that she remains passionate about her craft and has not abandoned music.
