Nigerian music sensation Reekado Banks’ recent post on X, in which he asserted that certain persons in the Nigerian music industry are inhibiting the development of brilliant talents, has fans discussing.
The singer claims in his post on X March 25 that these individuals are either ignorant or demonic, but they still manage to find the best musicians whose careers they damage by making poor decisions.
Although scandal is nothing new to the Nigerian entertainment business, new rumours suggest that there may be a darker, more sinister undercurrent at work.
Social media has been rocked by a mysterious remark that implies some influential people in the field are either dangerously incompetent or acting with sinister, hidden agendas.

However, Reekado Banks in his tweet noted that he intends to call out some demonic persons in the music industry who have been destroying the lives of young, up-and-coming artists. Below is an excerpt of his tweet:
“One day, Iโll take an interview to talk about someone in the corners of the entertainment industry, whoโs either absolutely CLUELESS or plain DEMONIC.
Somehow, the brightest budding talents fall in their lap and either through cluelessness or pure demonic activities, they agree to policies that effectively slow these talents down and for some other talents, frustrate them out of pursuing their dreams. One dayโฆ”

The destiny of young talents who end up under the influence of some gatekeepers is a serious question raised by this statement.
Is there something more nefarious going on here, or are these artists just the victims of poor management? The truth is still hazy as conjecture rages, but one thing is for sure: the veil might be lifted sooner rather than later.
Observers who have followed the artist vs. label trend in Nigerian music, where several talented musicians have accused their management of damaging tactics, will not be surprised by Reekado Banks’ statement.
Fans will speculate as to who his message is about, but it’s unlikely to be someone from his former label, Mavins Music, where he rose to fame.

This bold claim has sent social media into a frenzy, with fans and industry watchers speculating about who might be involved. Is this a case of mismanagement, or is there truly a more sinister force at play?

@iam_harryjuana: “lowkey iโm sure we know who heโs talking about”
@khadijat_Oumar: “Abeg speak o, weโre here to listen๐”
@Hybrid_Ola: “Donโt let anyone silence you please. Talk about it today. Elon fit go carry your account tomorrow”
Reekado Banks shared that he left the label on an amicable note.
Reekado Banks, on the other hand, is an exception to this rule, revealing that he parted ways with Mavin Records amicably.
He amicably departed from Mavin Records to pursue personal growth and new opportunities.
He has publicly expressed gratitude towards Don Jazzy, the label’s founder, stating: “That man took me from absolutely nothing. I wonder why anyone would think it wasn’t amicable. The end of the contract came, I wanted to leave and he (Don Jazzy) gave me his blessings,” Reekado said on his departure.
While Reekado Banks’ divorce from Mavin Records is amicable, Nigerian music is littered with many stories of nasty confrontations between labels and singers.
