Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has charged all Muslim faithful in the nation to imbibe the spirit of service and selflessness as preached by Prophet Mohammed.
The Governor said societal ills and cog in the wheels of national development will be drastically subdued if people think about what they can give to the society rather than what they can get from it always, challenging Muslims to use the Holy Month of Ramadan to send a strong signal of peace and development to the world.
He said Holy Month of Ramadan is a period of self-denial, selflessness, charity and a time for sober reflection, urging them to pray for the unity and progress of the nation.
Governor Bello said Islam is a religion of peace, hence, the need for Islamic clerics and faithful to preach peaceful coexistence between people of different religious persuasions.
The Governor wishes all faithful a fruitful Ramadan month for the Islamic world, praying for global peace and economic development.
Governor Yahaya Bello pledges to govern the people of the state with the fear of Allah, the most merciful.
