Orezi Admits: “I Once Promised A Lady A House But I Didn’t Deliver”

Nigerian singer and songwriter Esegine Allen, popularly known as Orezi, has made a startling revelation about a past encounter with a woman.

In a recent interview with Echo Room, Orezi admitted that he once promised to buy a lady a house but failed to fulfill the promise.

The singer’s confession came amid discussions about men making promises to women in relationships or casual encounters, only to later backtrack.

His comments have sparked mixed reactions from fans and social media users, with some criticizing his actions while others defended him, stating that people often make promises they cannot keep.

Orezi’s Confession: A Lighthearted or Serious Admission?

During the interview, Orezi reflected on his past and admitted that he once made a grand promise to a lady he was interested in.

According to him, he assured her that he would buy her a house, but in the end, he did not go through with it.

He explained that at the time, he did not think of the long-term implications of his words, stating that men often say things in the heat of the moment, especially when trying to impress or win someone over.

“I once promised a lady a house, but I didn’t deliver. Why would I buy her a house? For what? Ladies also promise to be faithful to one partner and they often fail. So, let every gender keep promising. It’s a dog eat dog world [laughs].”Orezi said during the interview.

“It wasn’t intentional, but you know how things happen sometimes. People make promises, and later on, they realize they can’t fulfill them.”

The Conversation Around Broken Promises

Orezi’s statement has ignited a debate about relationships, expectations, and the culture of making exaggerated promises, particularly in the entertainment industry.

Many believe that celebrities and wealthy individuals often use material incentives to attract partners, but some do not always follow through with their commitments.

His confession also raised broader questions about trust in relationships. Many women shared their experiences on social media, stating that they had been promised things—ranging from gifts to financial assistance—only to be disappointed later.

Others defended Orezi, arguing that women also sometimes make promises they do not intend to keep.

A Trend Among Celebrities?

Orezi’s revelation is not an isolated case. Several celebrities have been accused of making grand gestures or promises only to later retract them.

The Nigerian entertainment industry has witnessed numerous controversies where musicians, actors, and influencers allegedly failed to meet expectations they set.

Recently, singer Burna Boy was also caught in a controversy involving a socialite, where he was accused of not fulfilling a promise. Orezi referenced this case, implying that it is common for both men and women to overpromise in relationships.

While Orezi’s confession may have been lighthearted, it brings attention to a common issue in relationships—making promises one cannot keep. Whether in love, friendships, or business, keeping one’s word is crucial to building trust and credibility.

As fans continue to debate his comments, one thing is certain: Orezi’s honesty about his past has stirred discussions about responsibility, relationships, and the consequences of broken promises.
