Obanikoro Tackles EFCC Over Sons’ Involvement In 4.8Billion Fraud

Former Lagos state’s PDP governorship candidate, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has demanded that,ย the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), shouldย make public its findings aboutย  Sylvan McNamara Limited.

The challenge is coming afterย allegations by the EFCC that, Sylvan McNamara Limited, a company allegedly owned by Obanikoroโ€™s sons, Babajide andย  Gbolahan, got part of the $2.1b arms fund.

According to Vanguard, investigations revealed that N 4,745,000,000.00 was paid into the companyโ€™s account number 0026223714 with Diamond bank, in bits, from the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Obanikoro’s media aide, Jonanthan Eze released a statement to the effect, disregarding the reports maintaining that the EFCC should show evidence of when the money was paid into the account.

The statement said โ€œObanikoro is appalled by the public political persecution embarked upon by these agencies noting that there is nowhere in the world where investigations are being conducted using the pages of the newspapers.โ€

โ€œAssociating my sons to the Sylvan McNamara account that allegedly received funds from the office of the embattled National security Adviser is highly preposterous and unthinkable.

โ€œI am particularly amazed by the fact that trials and investigations are being done using the media unconventionally just to satisfy the cravings of political entities who are desperate to rub my hard earned reputation in the mud.”

โ€œI am using this medium to challenge โ€ฆ the EFCC to publish in good conscience the signatories and the names of the directors of the said company and to restate that I shall conclusively pursue this injustice and infringements to a logical end,โ€ the statement said.
