One of the low points of the Buhari administration has undoubtedly been the clash between the Nigerian Army and the members of the Shi’ite sect on December 12, 2015.
The clash began when Shi’ites blocked the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff and when an entreaty failed to get the Shi’ites off the road, army officials shot the Shi’ites.
The Kaduna state government instituted Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the incident. Several witnesses at the Public hearing on Monday alleged that 347 Shi’ites were killed by the Army and then buried in mass graves.
Several witnesses gave accounts alleging that the corpses were buried in a mass grave sometime between December 14 and 15, 2015.
The Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Balarabe Lawal as well the Deputy CMD of the Ahmadu Bello Teaching Hospital were among those who testified at the hearing.
