The stage is set for the New Media Conference (NMC) School Debate 2025, happening on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Command Day Secondary School, Ikeja, Lagos, starting at 10 a.m. The event, convened by Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Olorisupergal, promises an exciting exchange of ideas among some of Nigeria’s brightest students.

The NMC School Debate aims to inspire young minds to think critically about the evolving media landscape, technology, and the power of information in society. With timely and thought-provoking topics, this year’s competition will test both intellect and perspective.

The quarter-final debate will tackle “Social Media: A Tool for Social Good or a Catalyst for Misinformation.” The semi-final topic explores “The Role of AI in Shaping Future Careers: Opportunities or Threats,” while the grand finale will focus on “Media Content Regulation in the Age of AI: A Necessity or a Killer of Innovation.”

Bringing grace, wit, and expertise to the event is Isabella Adediji, who will serve as the official host. Isabella is the Founder and Managing Director of Yellow Tamarind Productions, a media and production company known for crafting educational and inspiring stories. A University of Cambridge graduate, she began her career in communications at Nestlé Nigeria before launching Africana Literati, an Afrocentric literary TV show that aired across Africa and on U.S. streaming platforms.

Her impressive portfolio includes producing and hosting The Movie Buff Show on Africa Magic, Correct Student on City 105.1 FM, and Politico Politica on Views Channel. Through her work on Teach for Nigeria’s Radio School and The For Families Podcast, she continues to promote media as a force for positive change. Known as “The Intelligent MC” and “Alaga Sisi Bella,” Isabella’s dynamic presence will add both intellect and elegance to the debate stage.

Judging the competition are two respected voices in media and education — Joseph Onaolapo “Jay On Air” and Dr. Chike Mgbeadichie both bringing valuable insights and balanced perspectives to the contest.

As anticipation builds, the New Media Conference School Debate 2025 stands as more than just a competition. It’s a celebration of knowledge, communication, and the next generation of media thinkers shaping Nigeria’s future.
