Mumbai Considers “No Selfie” Zones

Increasing concern over public safety might very well see India’s financial capital, Mumbai, introduce “no selfie zones”.

Police in Mumbai have said there are 16 dangerous spots for taking selfies and concern increased after two people drowned on Saturday while taking a selfie.

Three people fell off the rocks and into the Arabian sea while taking selfies and a passerby rushed to their rescue. Unfortunately, the passerby, identified as 37-year-old Ramesh Walanju also drowned.

“After the unfortunate incident, we have decided to identify 16 spots where taking selfies can be dangerous, but we may add more,” deputy commissioner Dhananjay Kulkarni told the AFP news agency.
