The family of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has renewed its call for a post-mortem DNA test, insisting that only biological samples taken directly from the singer can provide credible and conclusive results.
According to verified reports, the family has formally expressed dissatisfaction with suggestions that DNA samples from Mohbadโs relatives should be used instead. They argue that relying on family membersโ samples could lead to inconclusive outcomes and further controversy, especially given the sensitive nature of the ongoing paternity dispute surrounding the singerโs son.

Through their legal representative, the Aloba family reportedly submitted a letter to the court, clearly stating that Mohbadโs own biological tissue should be used for any DNA analysis. They maintain that a post-mortem test remains the most scientifically accurate way to establish clarity and put lingering questions to rest. The family also raised concerns about the credibility and transparency of the testing process, reportedly calling for the DNA test to be conducted in an internationally accredited laboratory, preferably outside Nigeria.
According to them, this would help prevent allegations of interference, compromise, or tampering with samples; issues that have continued to fuel public distrust around the case. This development comes amid months of public debate, legal back-and-forth, and emotional exchanges between Mohbadโs family and his widow, Omowunmi Aloba. The DNA matter has remained one of the most contentious aspects of the late singerโs unresolved affairs, keeping Nigerians deeply invested in every new update.
As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding when the post-mortem DNA test will be carried out, nor has the court publicly ruled on the familyโs latest request. Authorities have also not released details on how samples would be obtained or which laboratory would eventually handle the process if approved. For many Nigerians, the renewed demand highlights the broader need for transparency, scientific accuracy, and due process in resolving the many unanswered questions surrounding Mohbadโs death and legacy. Supporters argue that only a clear and credible DNA process can bring closure to the family, the widow, and a public that continues to mourn the singer.
As the legal process unfolds, all eyes remain on the courts and relevant authorities to determine the next steps. One question, however, continues to echo loudly: will this long-awaited post-mortem DNA test finally bring clarity, or prolong an already painful chapter?
