Man tricks lady after being duped. However, she has resorted to social media to vent her annoyance.
She met the man on Instagram and he told her that he was having problems with his bank. He persuaded her to lend him ₦47,000 to pay for their meal and another ₦10,000 to buy fuel for his car, with the promise that he would reimburse her later.
The woman described her experience in a post on X (previously Twitter), saying that she had chosen to give dating another go but was duped.
She clarified that the man’s friend joined them during their date and placed an order for a different supper.
But when it came time to pay the bill, her date started acting oddly and finally said that his bank app wasn’t functioning.
He also requested ₦10,000 in cash to buy fuel for his car, citing banking issues.
Days after the date, the man failed to reach out or return her money. When she confronted him, he made excuses about sorting out his banking problems. However, by the following week, she discovered that he had blocked her.

Expressing her frustration, she lamented that the man was able to deceive her simply because of his good looks, referring to him as a “handsome thief.”
Her post read:
“Lagos men have shown me shege banza again. I decided to try dating again, and I met this guy on IG. He planned a date, chose the location, and later, his friend joined us at the restaurant. We ordered a platter, but his friend wanted something else, so he told him to order separately.”
“When it was time to pay, he started pacing around. I asked what was wrong, and he said his bank network was down, even showing me his phone. To avoid embarrassment, I suggested making the payment while he promised to refund me as soon as possible. He also asked me to lend him ₦10,000.”
“The first day after the date, I didn’t hear from him. He later said he was sorting out the bank issue and would go to the bank on Monday to send my money. When I asked him again last week, before my finger injury, he claimed to be at the bank. I later found out this werey had blocked me.”
“I ended up paying for both our food and what his friend ordered. On top of that, he still borrowed ₦10,000 in cash for fuel because of ‘bank network issues.’”
“₦47,000 for food, ₦10,000 that he borrowed. A handsome thief. He scammed me because he’s fine.”
