The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has announced a shutdown of the livestock markets in the state throughout the month of May, 2020. This new order has hereby prevented the transportation of livestock into the state until further notice.

The Governor has further stated that security agencies are empowered to ensure compliance with the shutdown order.
