Lisabi Part 2: Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Eniola Ajao & Others Storm The Premiere of Lateef Adedimeji’s Movie

Lagos-Nigeria, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History was the location as Lateef Adedimeji finally premieres part two of his Netflix movie, Lisabi.

OSG was live at the John Randle Centre to cover the premiere of the Netflix original Lisabi. This article will show our esteemed readers exclusive images from the event and how things went down.

The premiere was well attended, with some of the biggest names in Nollywood turning up for their colleague as he continues to make an impact with his directorial debut.

Some of the guests who were at the premiere included Eniola Ajao, Femi Adebayo, Muyiwa Ademola, Iyabo Ojo, ID Cabasa, BBNaija’s Saga, Phyna, Olumide Oworu, Jide Awobona, Mr Macaroni, Odunlade Adekola, Abayomi Alvin and more.

One of the new faces at the event that got people talking was the host of the Popular Yoruba YouTube show, Masoyinbo, Olalekan Fabilola. Before the red carpet for the premiere started, a history session was held where the stories about the great Egba warrior Lisabi were told.

Who was Lisabi?

Lisabi Agbongbo Akala wasย a leader and warrior from the Egba tribe in Yorubaland, Nigeria. Lisabi wasย a giant man who lived in Igbehin but he was from another Egba village called Itoku. He conspired to achieve independence for the Egbas from theย Alaafinย of Oyo who presided over an empire that spanned most of the Yoruba lands. Alaafin’s representatives to Egba villages were at this time, extremely oppressive.

To achieve his aim, Lisabi first developed a mutual society system called Egbe Aro, in which each farmer member enjoyed the cooperation of one another in cultivating their farmlands.

Lisabi was always willing to help other members in their farmland but never requested their service. He planned to evolve the group into a military society, and this he achieved.
