The Lagos State Government has announced plans to organize monthly tours to celebrate its cultural heritage and bolster tourism.
The tours, which will feature both land and water experiences, aim to position Lagos as a global hub for transportation and tourism.
Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, unveiled the initiative during a special event for Nigerians in the diaspora and Lagos enthusiasts.
The event included a city tour showcasing the metropolis’s charm.
Aregbe explained that the initiative, themed: โLagos Tourism is Risingโ, will take place monthly to foster appreciation for Lagos’s rich cultural history and scenic beauty.
โThis programme is designed to strengthen connections between the diaspora and Lagos while celebrating the cityโs cultural heritage.
It provides an avenue to enjoy breathtaking views and engage with our vibrant history,โ Aregbe stated.
He added that the tours would honor the contributions of the diaspora community and international admirers of Lagos, highlighting their impact on the city’s economy and festive atmosphere.
The inaugural tour offered a vibrant mix of activities, including music, dance, and interactive discussions. Participants visited iconic locations such as the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History and the Nike Art Gallery, culminating in a celebratory dinner.
