The Lagos State Government has officially completed the rehabilitation of the Lagos-bound Chevron to Admiralty stretch of the Lekki–Ajah Road, bringing relief to thousands of commuters and residents who ply the busy corridor daily.
The project, which focused on the section between Chevron Roundabout and Admiralty Way, has long been a major concern for motorists due to persistent gridlock, potholes, and deteriorating road conditions. With the rehabilitation now completed, road users are beginning to experience smoother traffic flow and improved driving conditions.

The Lekki–Ajah axis remains one of the fastest-growing residential and commercial hubs in Lagos. Over the years, increased population and rapid real estate development have placed enormous pressure on the road infrastructure, especially during peak hours.
The completed rehabilitation works reportedly included resurfacing damaged portions of the road, drainage improvements, and structural reinforcement to enhance durability. Motorists along the Lagos-bound lane have already expressed optimism that the intervention will significantly reduce travel time, particularly during rush hours.
Residents and business owners in the area have also welcomed the development, noting that the previously poor condition of the road affected productivity and daily movement. The stretch from Chevron to Admiralty is a key link connecting major estates, commercial centers, and waterfront communities in Lekki.
The state government has consistently reiterated its commitment to infrastructure renewal across strategic economic corridors. The rehabilitation of this section of the Lekki–Ajah Road forms part of broader efforts to ease congestion and improve transportation within the Lekki peninsula.
While traffic challenges may not disappear overnight due to the high volume of vehicles on the corridor, the upgraded stretch is expected to deliver immediate relief to commuters heading toward central Lagos.
With the project now completed, attention is likely to shift to other sections of the Lekki–Ajah Road that require further expansion and long-term upgrades as the area continues to grow.
