The Lagos State House of Assembly has ordered the closure of the blood bank of the Gbagada general hospital following a report by the House Committee on Health Services.

The house Committee in conjunction with the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFEMAA), during an inspection of the hospital discovered some unethical and unsafe practises.

The Committee disclosed that the Gbagada general hospital’s blood bank did not separate screened blood from unscreened blood. Additionally, HIV positive blood samples were also muddled with negative blood samples.
