The Lagos State Government has announced a major traffic diversion plan ahead of the Lagos Gran Fondo “Eko 170” Cycling Race, set to hold on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 5 am to 2 pm. Authorities say the plan is aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow while guaranteeing the safety of both residents and participants during the 170-kilometer event.

According to the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the race route will cover key areas including Lagos Island, Victoria Island, Lekki, and Epe. The government warned that several major roads along this route will be temporarily closed or redirected during the race. Residents and motorists have been urged to plan their journeys accordingly and make use of alternative routes to avoid congestion.

Officials confirmed that traffic officers will be stationed at strategic points to guide motorists and maintain emergency access along the race path.
