ISWAP militants reportedly attacked the military Super Camp in Ngamdu, located along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway in Kaga Local Government Area, Borno State, early on Friday, October 10, 2025. Sources say the assault began at about 2:00 am and lasted roughly one hour.

Eyewitnesses and security-sources believe many soldiers may have been killed. Several others were wounded and have been taken to Damaturu Specialist Hospital for treatment. At least one source told BusinessDay that the military blocked off the Maiduguri-Damaturu route following the attack, raising concerns about stranded motorists.

The attackers opened fire on duty soldiers at Ngamdu’s Super Camp. After the exchange, wounded soldiers were evacuated. Reinforcement troops from nearby outposts, including Bonisiek and Mainok, reportedly encountered landmines while heading to assist.

Motorists have been caught up in the security lockdown, with reports of traffic standstill and detours around the affected area. Security agents are working to secure the scene and prevent further incursions.

The identity of those responsible for the attack is attributed to ISWAP, the Islamic State West Africa Province. The group has staged several assaults on military installations across northeastern Nigeria in recent months.

Further details, including the exact number of casualties, are still being confirmed. The Nigerian military has yet to issue an official statement.
