BBNaija Season 10 winner Imisi Ayanwale is now at the center of a very public family dispute after a viral video showed her mother tearfully accusing her of neglect since winning the show. The accusations have sparked a social media firestorm, and both women have since responded, each pleading her side of the story.

In the emotional clip, Imisi’s mother cried as she alleged that her daughter had “abandoned her” after her rise to fame. She confessed that she had supported Imisi throughout the reality show, begging and relying on her community, only to feel sidelined once her daughter’s star grew.  She also revealed that she lives with her younger sister in Ajah, where kind neighbours provide food, clothing, and shelter. 

Speaking in a recent interview, she denied that she abandoned Imisi. Rather, she said her “silence was intentional” not a sign of guilt but a choice rooted in wisdom.  She added she was only informed on the day of Imisi’s finale that she was to appear, saying she got a call around 4 PM to dress up. 

On her part, Imisi addressed the accusations during a live TikTok session. Calm but firm, she insisted she has not been neglectful: “I am taking care of my mother,” she told her fans.  She argued that things are being misrepresented, urging the public not to jump to conclusions. 

Her mother, however, remains visibly hurt. In her tearful video, she questioned why her daughter seemed to keep her at arm’s length. She stated: “Imisi doesn’t want to see me… I was running everywhere so she could win and lift me out of poverty.”  She also appealed to Nigerians to be kind and stop tearing each other down asking instead for empathy and unity. 

The situation has revived conversation about Imisi’s early life and childhood trauma. Some online users have gone further, accusing her mother of more serious neglect. According to one widely shared post, the mother allegedly threw Imisi out at age 12, a claim that has reignited debates about their troubled past.  Whether these deeper accusations are accurate remains unverified, but they underscore how tense and layered this conflict has become in the public eye.

As of now, neither Imisi nor her mother has shared private updates about a potential reconciliation. The spotlight remains firmly on their relationship and Nigerians are still divided. Some sympathize with Imisi’s mother, believing she deserves more than “thank you” notes. Others back Imisi, arguing that caring for one’s family is never as simple as social media comments make it seem.
