Governor Wike already announced a state-wide lockdown over the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. On Thursday, the Governor went round the state to inspect the level of compliance with the lockdown.
However, the Governor observed that some cars still plyed the road despite the lockdown in the state. The Governor didn’t take it lightly with these defaulters as he immediately impounded these cars and also stated that the cars will be auctioned.
The Governor said,
“The defaulters will be tried by the Mobile Courts and I have told the Attorney General, all the impounded vehicles must be auctioned. By tomorrow, the Honourable Attorney General would have advertised those vehicles and we will auction them”.
โSome people donโt believe that Coronavirus is in existence. Until you make them understand that we are serious, they will not believe it. We will auction the impounded vehicles”.
โThose arrested will face the wrath of the law. Nobody is above the law. We will not allow anyone to sabotage our efforts to protect our people.โ
The Governor has also asked that hotels who defaulted the state’s directives during the lockdown and continued business operations should be identified for demolition. The Governor said “from tomorrow,ย move into any hotel that is operating, identify it and we will bring down the hotels.
โI have the political will.ย Those people who disobey will face the consequences.โ
