Gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, the alleged murderer of Nigerian Youth Corp member Salome Adaidu, was earlier today, Monday, January 27, 2025, brought before the High COut of Justice in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria, he was charged with one count of culpable butchery, punishable by death.
According to Channels TV, Timileyin appeared in court before Justice Simon Aboki. Upon arraignment, the suspect declared before the court that he was not guilty of the allegations filed against him.
The alleged individual age 32 was arrested for the murder of his alleged partner, Adaidu, a 24-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who had previously worked at Nicon Insurance in the nation’s capital, Abuja, prior to her demise.
Salome was murdered during her visit to the suspect’s residence in the Papalana axis at New Karshi in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The police had paraded Mr Ajayi alongside the knives and machetes he used to commit the offence. Timi was apprehended on Sunday, January 12, 2025, while attempting to dispose of the head of the deceased corp member after killing her and dismembering her body parts.
When asked if he killed Salome during a media chat with national TV, he answered “Yes”, narrating that it wasn’t planned, but it is because they don’t have each other all the time.
He said:
โI killed her because we donโt have each other all the time, itโs not something I planned. It happened on that day and it happened. Not that I have the plan in mind, she was cheating. She hides most of the things from me most time. I got to know from her phone. I saw her chats with other guys on the phone, that was why I decided.โ
In a previous report, the tragic death of the late corps member Salome Eleojo continued to spur conversations online.
OSG earlier reported that Timileyin Ajayi, a self-proclaimed gospel singer, was identified as the murderer after he was reportedly seen with a nylon bag containing Salome’s head.
