Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says Nigeria’s priority right now is getting hold of the new COVID-19 vaccine.
President Buhari also called for a fair distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines.
This comes after drug manufacturing giant, Pfizer announced that data from its vaccine shows an efficient rate higher than 90%.
Speaking at the opening session of the virtual edition of the Paris Peace Forum which featured presentations by some Heads of State and governments alongside international organisations, Osinbajo said the world needs a collective response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, “he priorities of Nigeria in the post COVID-19 era include improved healthcare and the economy.
First, we need to keep the virus under control. While our guards are still firmly in place, getting the COVID-19 vaccine is a matter of utmost concern.โ
He added that, โOn this, we are encouraged by the efforts of the WHO (World Health Organisation) and other international agencies working to ensure that vaccine delivery will be equitable across all countries, regardless of the priority of orders and ability to pay.โ
Since its detection in China in December 2019, the virus has killed over 1.2 million people globally.
