FG shifts holiday to Wednesday and Thursday

As a result of the directive by the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar III and the Sultan of Sokoto that the Ramadan fast continues today as a result of the non-sighting of the moon, the federal government has declared Wednesday the 6th and Thursday the 7th of July, 2016 as public holidays.

This comes after today, Tuesday and tomorrow, Wednesday was earlier declared as public holidays. There is now a little issue as to whether workers are to take three days off work or abadon the wednesday holiday as many workers are already observing holidays today.

The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. (Rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, who made the announcement has urged Nigerians to use this period of sober reflections to ensure harmony, unity and peaceful co-existence, while giving full support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained effort to pursue socio-economic and political growth of the nation.

Happy holiday everyone!
