President Bola Tinubu has announced that the Federal Government has disbursed N34 billion in loans to over 300,000 students in tertiary institutions across the country through the Nigeria Education Loan Fund.
Speaking on Wednesday while presenting the 2025 budget proposal of N49.7 trillion to the National Assembly, the President highlighted plans to allocate N826.9 billion for education infrastructure in the coming fiscal year.
โOur administration has so far disbursed N34 billion to over 300,000 students via the Nigeria Education Loan Fund,โ Tinubu said.
โIn the 2025 budget, we have provided N826.90 billion for infrastructure development in the educational sector, including funding for the Universal Basic Education initiative and the nine new higher education institutions.โ
The President also addressed the governmentโs commitment to healthcare improvement, announcing allocations of N402 billion for health sector infrastructure and N282.65 billion for the Basic Health Care Fund.
โWe aim to strengthen primary healthcare systems through Universal Health Coverage initiatives,โ Tinubu explained.
โOur hospitals will be revitalized with better resources and essential medications, ensuring quality care for Nigerians.
Additionally, the government will procure vital drugs for public healthcare facilities to improve access and reduce dependency on medical imports.
“The education and healthcare provisions reflect the governmentโs broader strategy to improve essential services and bolster human capital development nationwide”.
