One of football’s all time legends, Johann Cryuff has died at the age of 68. The iconic Barcelona and Netherlands player died today following a battle with cancer.
A statement on his official website confirmed his passing said, “On March 24 2016 Johan Cruyff (68) died peacefully in Barcelona, surrounded by his family after a hard fought battle with cancer.”
“Itโs with great sadness that we ask you to respect the familyโs privacy during their time of grief.”
Cryuff played for Barcelona fromย 1973-1978 and served as the club’s head coach between 1988-1996, he was also a three time winner of the Ballon d’or and helped the Dutch national team reach the 1974 World cup final.
