New report has it that, the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir Wl-Rufai has given a traditional monarch of Goma, Ibrahim Danladi indefinite suspension over possession of marijuana.
Danladi who rules the village located in the Gimi district of Sanga local government area of the state, was reportedly caught with some substance of the hard drug.
According to the governor’s spokesman Samuel Aruwan, some officials of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Danladi on the 20th of January for being in possession of 1.5kg of marijuana. Aruwan also stated that Danladi confessed to being the owner of the illegal drug and revealed that the ruler will be charged to court as soon as the NDLEA brings its investigations to a conclusion.
The governor’s spokesman released the statement yesterday: “In actualising his campaign against drugs, Kaduna Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai on Thursday announced the immediate suspension of a traditional ruler who was arrested over alleged drug related offence in the state,” he stated.
“The NDLEA arrested Danladi on 20 January while he was in possession of a 1.5kg of marijuana. The NDLEA subsequently notified the Kaduna state security council of the arrest of the traditional ruler. While deliberating on the matter, the Council recommended his suspension from office pending the conclusion of investigations and possible trial and the government accepted the recommendation.”
