A well-known musician Eedris Abdulkareem fervently asked his followers to hold their torches high and cry “Free VDM” in support of the arrested social media influencer VeryDarkMan (VDM) in a widely shared video on the internet.
The musician, whose contentious diss track was just prohibited from radio and television, made a point of expressing his solidarity with the campaigner.
The recording showed the artist yelling at the top of his lungs encouraging his audience to continue repeating the phrase he had chosen.
“The demands for basic rights are not too much to ask,” he said, expressing his anger with the government.

At the time, VDM seemed excited to work with Abdulkareem on the project and promised to assist bankroll a remix of his song.
Edris criticised the government for prioritising music bans at the expense of many other pressing national issues.
