Drama Unfolds as VeryDarkman Criticizes Reuben Abati for Heated Exchange with Arise TV’s Ojy Okpe

Experienced journalist Reuben Abati has received a harsh warning from well-known Nigerian campaigner VeryDarkMan, often known as VDM, on social media.

Abati’s recent altercation with fellow journalist Ojinika “Ojy” Okpe, an anchor on Arise TV, was denounced by the activist.

The activist and Reuben Abati, a former media advisor to former President Goodluck Jonathan, are at odds right now.

Abati was accused of tribal bias by VeryDarkMan, especially for supporting Abike Dabiri in the ongoing dispute over the trafficking of young Nigerian girls in Ivory Coast.

Abati responded by seemingly dismissing VeryDarkMan and drawing a comparison between him and controversial Nigerian singer Portable, a jab that obviously touched a chord.

VDM retaliated by bringing up Abati’s purported role in a corruption incident in 2016.

He asserted that Abati, along with individuals like Femi Fani-Kayode and Musiliu Obanikoro, was arrested by the EFCC for money impropriety under the Jonathan administration.

Related to this, a video has emerged that shows Abati and his co-anchor, Ojy Okpe, having a furious argument during an Arise News live broadcast of The Morning Show.

Usually focussing on politics and social concerns, the show became the subject of controversy after Abati’s hostile tone against Okpe provoked popular outrage.

Abati’s actions were publicly chastised by VeryDarkMan, who called them impolite and unprofessional.

Despite the heated moment on broadcast, he praised Ojy Okpe for her cool and collected response.

The activist questioned the journalist’s integrity because of previous controversies and threatened to push for Abati’s termination from the network if such behaviour continued.

In a more light-hearted manner, VDM also commended Ojy Okpe’s grace and journalistic expertise.

Okpe, who was born Ojinika Anne Egwuenu in Enugu, Nigeria, eventually immigrated to the United States and graduated from Seton Hall University in New Jersey with a degree in communications.

Ojy has established a strong name in the media and in social circles. She was formerly married to Austin Okpe, with whom she had two children.
