Despite leading polls and blustering his way through debates and media chats, Republican Candidate Donald Trump has lost the first of the votes to choose a Republican Presidential candidate.
The Iowa Republican Caucauses is the first step in choosing a Republican candidate.
The unexpected winner of the vote with 28 % and eight delegates was Ted Cruz ahead of Donald Trump and Marco Rubio.
Donald Trump won 24% while Marco Rubio got 23% and while Dr. Ben Carson ended up with 9%.
Donald Trump was surprisingly magnanimous in defeat and said he was ‘honored’ to be second place.
The Democratic vote proved to be closer with Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton still going head to head as votes are still being counted.
