The Coronavirus pandemic requires a quick approach in the conduct of tests and receipt of test results. This quick approach is needed to be able to quickly isolate the infected patients from the non-infected ones in order to be able to curb the spread of the virus. However, Nigeria might face problems in curbing the spread of the virus due to the delay of the Covid-19 test results.
A resident of the isolation centre who spoke to an AIT News Correspondent has said that after the conduct of his test, the test results was delayed until after a week, after which the test said he tested positive to the virus. The man also complained to the AIT TV correspondent that due to the delay in receiving his test results, he has gone back home and exposed his friends and family to the virus. Patients in the Abuja Isolation Centre has also shared the same frustrating plight with this man as they stated that they have been waiting for 21 days without receiving their test results.
This issue needs to be really looked into by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, such that there will be a quick approach henceforth in the conduct of tests and receipts of tests results so that the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic would be curbed.
