Davido has opened up about his growing scepticism about entering politics, citing concerns about the challenges celebrities face when transitioning into the political space.
Speaking during a recent Twitch livestream with streamer Davrel, the Grammy-nominated artist said his perspective has evolved, despite earlier ambitions to venture into governance.

“Before, I wanted to go into politics but honestly, now, I see it two ways. All my years of goodwill, my name and my career, all the hard work and the fan base we have built, it is tricky because the way people look at things; the superstars that have gone into politics, the transition hasn’t really been successful.”
Davido noted that his successful music career and established legacy make the decision even more complex, as entering politics could risk altering public perception and diminishing the goodwill he has built over the years.
Reflecting further, he suggested that politics may require a different level of commitment and identity, separate from the entertainment industry.
“I feel like if you are a politician, you are a politician. It is like it is their business,” Davido said.
