Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has publicly addressed reports of a heated moment in court during his custody dispute over his daughter, Imade, clarifying his position and announcing that he has decided to withdraw the case.

Earlier reports claimed the singer had an outburst during proceedings related to the custody battle. However, Davido took to social media to share his side of the story, insisting that several narratives circulating online were inaccurate.
In a series of posts, Davido clarified that he was never seeking sole custody of his daughter.
โI never asked for full custody โฆ I asked for joint custody,โ he wrote. He further stated, โNobody won, nobody lost but Imadeโฆ so I donโt know why some pple r celebratingโฆ thereโs nothing to celebrate.โ
According to the singer, the goal of the legal action was to secure shared parenting rights, not to take full custody.
Addressing what happened during the hearing, Davido alleged that tensions escalated after the opposing counsel referenced his late son during arguments, a moment he described as unacceptable and deeply hurtful.

He said mentioning his deceased child was โthe lowest blow,โ adding that it triggered his emotional reaction in court. The singer also criticized the lawyer involved, accusing her of misconduct and stating that he felt disrespected during proceedings.
Despite the controversy, Davido revealed that he has decided to withdraw the custody case altogether.
โMy daughter will grow up knowing I fought for herโฆ letโs move on. One love!โ he concluded, signaling a desire to move forward peacefully.
The tweets have since generated widespread reactions across social media. While many fans expressed support and sympathy, others urged both parties to prioritize the childโs well-being and keep future matters private.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from the opposing legal team regarding Davidoโs claims.
The development marks a new turn in the custody dispute, with the singer now indicating he prefers to step back from further courtroom battles.
