Nollywood actors Dakore Akande-Egbuson and her younger brother Timini Egbuson have announced the passing of their beloved father, Mr Samuel Oyindobra Egbuson, who died on January 1, 2026.

The heartbreaking news was first shared by Timini Egbuson on Instagram about 20 hours ago, marking a painful start to the new year for the actor.

In an emotional post, Timini wrote:

“Didn’t think I’ll start the year saying this… Rest in peace, Dad. So much left unsaid but I’ll keep making you proud.”

A few hours later, Dakore Akande-Egbuson also took to her Instagram page to confirm the loss, sharing a deeply personal and touching tribute to her late father. Addressing her fans, fondly called #Dakorians, the veteran actress wrote:

“My Dearest Papa passed away on the 1st of January 2026. Daddy, may your soul rest in perfect peace and power.

I’m so totally heartbroken yet glad that you’re free from pain. I’m grateful for the memories and the laughter, your legacy of excellence that you instilled in my siblings and I, your love for music and looking fly!

Despite the complexity of our family, you are immensely loved and missed beyond comprehension.I love you forever and till infinity and beyond.”

She also appealed to the public to remember her family in prayers as they navigate the difficult period of grief.

Dakore accompanied her tribute with endearing photos of herself and her father, including a particularly touching image from her wedding day; moments that reflected the deep bond they shared.
