Fans of the Avengers actor are wondering if he might have the chops to be the next James Bond.

In a chat with Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday, the spy character in the popular TV series, The Night Manager responded diplomatically and evasively, saying, “As somebody who grew up with Sean Connery and Roger Moore, when you mention it, there’s a part of me that goes, ‘Really? Are you kidding?’”

“But I feel like who’s going to be the next James Bond is one of the nation’s favorite pub conversations,” he continued. “It’s up there with, like, who’s going to win X-Factor, when is the England national side gonna live up to its full potential, and is Britain going to leave the E.U., and all that sort of thing.”
Meanwhile, Damian Lewis and Idris Elba remain firm favourites for the role.
