Many parts of Lagos are groaning under the strain of persistent blackout as a labour action against the Ikeja Distribution Company continues.
The Electricity Employees Union of Nigeria have picketed the offices of the distribution company for the third day running following a decision of the Distribution company to lay off 400 members of staff.
The Electricity Employees Union, a subsidiary of the Nigerian labour Congress allege that Ikeja DISCO laid off the staff without recourse to due process.
Alausa, Egbeda, Agege, Ikorodu, Oke-Odo, Iyano-Ipaja. Ojota, Oregun and Okota are some of the areas affected as the blackout enters its third day.
There has been no government intervention into what looks to become a long drawn out crisis.
