Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has opened up about the deeply personal journey that led her into music, revealing that it wasn’t just a dream; it felt like her only real option at the time.
Speaking in a recent video chat with Jarvis, the singer got candid about her early life and the uncertainty she faced growing up. According to her, she didn’t have a clear alternative career path and often felt like things could have easily gone differently. In her words, without music, she might have ended up jobless, highlighting just how much she relied on her talent as a lifeline.
Ayra explained that music wasn’t something she casually stumbled into; it became her direction during a period when she was still figuring herself out. While many artists talk about having multiple interests or backup plans, her reality was different. For her, it was music or nothing, and that pressure pushed her to take it seriously from the start.
A major turning point in her journey, she said, was the unwavering support she received from her mother. Recognising her daughter’s natural talent and passion early on, her mom encouraged her to pursue music wholeheartedly. That belief made all the difference, giving Ayra the confidence to keep going even when things were uncertain.
