The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned of potential conflicts with the Federal Government in 2025 if unresolved issues in the education sector persist.
ASUU criticized the governmentโs efforts in 2024 as inadequate, citing neglect of universities, withheld salaries, unpaid allowances, and unfulfilled agreements on funding and reforms.
ASUU also opposed proposed tax reforms that would reduce TETFundโs revenue, threatening infrastructure development in tertiary institutions.
The union urged the government to prioritize education funding, review salaries, and sign the renegotiated Nimi Briggs agreement to address the crisis.
ASUU stressed that failure to act could lead to further unrest in the university system, urging its members to prepare for potential challenges in the new year.
