Nigerian football icon Asisat Oshoala has hit the ground running in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, earning the Player of the Month for September 2025 after a dazzling start with her new club Al Hilal Women. The celebrated Super Falcons forward joined Al Hilal this season from Bay FC and quickly made headlines with her first performances.
In her first month in Riyadh, Oshoala played three league matches, netting three goals and delivering two assists. Her contributions helped Al Hilal secure three wins from three games, without conceding a single goal during that stretch.
Voting, Competition, and Impact
Oshoala’s performances did not just impress on the pitch—she secured the award via a fan poll on X (formerly Twitter), gathering 56 percent of the votes from 37,560 votes cast. Her nearest challenger was Ibtissam Jraidi of Al Ahli, who got 44 percent, while Clara Luvanga of Al Nassr trailed with just 1 percent.
Her scoring run started with a penalty in her debut match against Al Qadsiah. She followed that up with a goal and an assist in the next match versus Al Ahli. In her third outing, she again marked the scoresheet in a win over Neom SC. Since joining Al Hilal on a two-year contract, Oshoala has come under the spotlight for proving her class in a new environment. Her early displays have been celebrated as proof she remains one of Africa’s best female forwards.
