#AMVCA: Why These 20 Celebrities Made Fashion History in 2015

While millions will tune in to the 2016 African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards on Saturday night, March 5, many will also be watching the red carpet beforehand, looking for the eye-catching AMVCA eveningwear and dapper look that could inspire fashionโ€™s next big trend.

Last year, the following celebrities made fashion history when the turn up in gorgeous outfit. From the Agbada gang to the thigh slit dress, here are the style influencers of 2015.

Off shoulder Straps by Genevieve Nnajiย 

Styled by Veronica Odeka, Genevieve Nnaji brought her movie star appeal to the 2015 AMVCA in a mustard floor-length custom dress by Elvira Jude. The dress, which featured off shoulder straps, was accessorized with pink jewelry from Seraphinaโ€™s Gem and a pink box clutch.

ย The Return of the Thigh Slit Trend

Media personality Toke Makinwa brought back the thigh slit trend that became a stunner on the red carpet last year. She stepped on the AMVCA red carpet in this gorgeous white dress with neckline details by Pastiche Couture. The Vlogger was styled by ELOY Award winner, Harvella Styles.

Another thigh slit that caught our eye was Andrea Giaccaglia. The Italian/Ghanaian rocked a maroon sheer dress from Nigerian designer, Wana Sambo.

Celebrity Mums

These women make men go weak at the knees and turn the gals green with envy. Celebrity Mums,ย Dakore Akande and Mercy Johnson proved that they still got what it takes to stun on the red carpet.

Dakore Akande rocked a simple but elegant dress by House of Dabira while Mercy stepped out in this white low neckline dress that showed off her famous curves.

From Ghana with Love

Ghanaian actress Joselyn Dumas lead the best dressed list from Ghollywoodย in her custom made dress from fashion brand Pistis paired with a gorgeous pair of leopard print Casadei pumps.

You can never go wrong with Black

Actress Beverly Naya gave us her own definition of style, looking simple yet classy in a black Reiss jumpsuit for the 2015 AMVCAs.

Miss Perfection

The gorgeous Rita Dominic was our ‘Miss Perfection’ of the night. The Nollywood diva wore a lovely dress from Nigerian fashion brand Lanre DaSilva Ajayi.

The Dapper Look

Actors, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Richard Mofe-Damijo and Style Blogger Denola Grey were a delight to see on the red carpet.

Theย โ€˜Best Supporting Actor (Drama) award winnerย rocked a black floral jacket and black pants designed by Bosi and Charles.

Nollywood legend Richard Mofe-Damijoย looked dapper in his three-piece suit and velvet bow-tie.

Best dressed couples

There is no doubt that Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro and her then fiancรฉ, Gbenro Ajibade make a stunning couple. Osasย rocked a gorgeous rich red dress from Badgley Mischka whileย Gbenro looked dapper in a black suit accessorized with a red brooch.

Another couple that caught our eye on the red carpet were the Dakolos.

Busola Dakolo and music star hubby Timi Dakolo brought their A-game to the 2015 AMVCA. Whileย Busola looked gorgeous in a teal dress by Fouad Sarkis Couture,ย Timi Dakolo opted for an African touch in a deep blue traditional attire and red cap.

Agbada Gangย 

Quite a number of stylish men took the risk and showed up rocking the agbada. Thanks to them, this Yoruba traditional attireย can now be worn to any event as long as you can get it right.
