Lagos State government has ended its agreement with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to operate BRT buses.

The Lagos state government and the NURTW had an agreement to operate the BRT buses between the Mile 12 and CMS axis.

The Lagos state Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Dayo Mobereola disclosed that the agreement was terminated because the NURTW failed to comply with operational plans of the First BRT cooperative.

“The failure of the FBC to comply with the terms of the franchise agreement has led to passengers experiencing poor service quality typified by extensive waiting time and having to endure use of dilapidated and unsafe buses,” Dr Mobereola disclosed.
