“Afrobeats Hits Don’t Always Guarantee Luxury Life”- Majixx Opens Up

Majixx is shedding light on a side of the music industry many fans rarely see, challenging the belief that every hit song automatically translates into a lavish lifestyle.

Speaking during an interview with HipTV, the fast-rising Afrobeats star revealed that even when a song grosses as much as $300,000, the reality behind the scenes is far less glamorous than people imagine. According to him, once earnings are split between record labels, producers, marketers, and other collaborators, the actual amount an artist takes home drops significantly.

Majixx explained that this financial structure often makes it difficult for many artists to afford the kind of luxury items fans associate with success, things like owning a Tesla Cybertruck or securing high-end property in upscale areas like Ikoyi.

He emphasised that while local hits can bring visibility and moderate income, they rarely create lasting wealth on their own. In his view, it takes global reach, international collaborations, and consistent chart-topping records across multiple markets to truly unlock financial freedom in the industry.

The singer’s comments highlight a broader conversation about the economics of Afrobeats, where streaming numbers and popularity don’t always align with actual earnings. Beyond the glamour, artists still have to navigate contracts, deductions, and the high cost of maintaining their brand.
