One of the longest serving Real Madrid players, Captain Iker Casillas has left Real Madrid for the Portugese club F.C Porto. Iker Casillas enjoyed an enviable career at the club which he joined when he was only nine years old.
Unfortunately, he left with no fanfare as he was practically forced out of the club where he had spent 25 years of his career. In the years since winning every club honor there is imaginable, “Saint Iker” captured the imagination of fans with many jaw dropping saves.
Sadly, he left the club in near ignominy following years of falling performances and being singled out by Coach Jose Mourinho for consistent criticism and at one time losing his first team place.
Having played 725 games for Real Madrid, Casillas departed for Porto with nothing to show for his legendary status. Perhaps, this explained the tears in his eyes as he read his farewell speech to a room only half filled with journalist.
And so, Real Madrid said goodbye to the man who had won everything, by giving him practically nothing to remember´.
